About
Who we are
We are an active group of neighbors who enjoy each other’s company while we seek to beautify and preserve our neighborhood.
What we do
Maintain the Medians and Corners
We maintain ten medians on Hillcrest between Belt Line and La Cosa and provide seasonal color change to landscaped areas on Hillcrest, Winterwood and the corners of Hillcrest and Belt Line. See map.
Educate
We meet to learn about gardening from guest speakers and each other.
Exercise
We host Pilates in The Park in the summer when there’s not much garden work to do
raise funds
We solicit funds from 738 homes in Prestonwood Estates to cover the costs of material and maintenance labor. We used to do hold two fund raisers each year. This year we are moving to just one - So please give generously this spring!
How long we’ve been here
Forever! Well, actually since 1970, and for this neighborhood that’s pretty much forever.
Learn about our history and meet some of the people who have participated from the beginning and some who just joined.
How we’re Organized
Prestonwood Estates Garden Club is a 501(c)(3) organization under the umbrella of the Texas Garden Clubs, Inc. As such, it is a member of the District X Texas Garden Clubs, Inc., and the Dallas Council of Garden Clubs.
How you can Participate
Donate
Look. It takes a lot more than a few hours a month to keep this place looking beautiful. We hire a crew to mow the medians, and we have to purchase all the plants. Learn how your contributions make this possible. Donate!
Volunteer
Join us for a monthly weed pulling day the last Saturday of each month during Growing Season (March - November).
Become a member
We’d love to have you if you also enjoy gardening, learning about gardening, being with people who also like gardening, and participating in light physical activity. Join!
Recommend a speaker
We meet at our homes and invite speakers to delight, amuse, and inform us about things that grow. If you can connect us with an engaging speaker, let us know.
Awards we’ve won
PEGC was honored to receive the first EVER Beautification award presented to a neighborhood or Garden Club in the City of Dallas. It was such a special recognition to so many who have worked for over 40 years maintaining and beautifying our Corners and Medians. It was also our honor to thank the City of Dallas by providing breakfast to the Parks & Recreation Dept. Employees. We will keep up the hard work to keep our portion of the city beautiful!
